I was in a vehicle traveling to my grandmother’s house when I saw a John-crow flying. As I watched the large bird in the sky, my mind went back to the story of Noah and the flood. It dawned on me then; we may deal with challenges like the raven, or we could take the approach of the dove.
The crow/raven was sent out of the ark, but it didn’t return. It flew away in the proverbial sunset. The crow didn’t think about Noah, the ark, the other animals, or anything. It flew off, and it didn’t look back.
and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. (Genesis 8:7 NIV)
I’m happy that another bird was mentioned in the story of Noah and the Ark. Noah sent out a dove; just like the crow, it flew away, but unlike the crow, it returned. (Genesis 8:8-12)
Dealing With Marital Challenges Like a Crow
As Empowered Godly Wives, we can use the example of these two birds when we experience challenges or conflicts in our marriage and family life. We can deal with conflict by flying away like the crow and not returning. Certainly, running away from a problem does not address or solve it.
Sometimes we fly away emotionally, spiritually, and even socially from our marriages and the issues that we need to address. This approach may be a quick way to cope, but most of the time it isn’t a lasting solution.
How do you deal with challenges in your marriage? Do you fly away like the crow, or do you stick around and work things out?
As an empowered godly wife, I pray that you’ll turn to the Lord and seek His guidance as you experience and address marital challenges.
