Empowered women are who they are thanks to the many prayers others pray for them and the countless petitions they make for others. In today’s post, we’ll look at a prayer that may be used for a stressed friend.
Life with its highs and lows is woven with stress, and a positive mindset and prayer are needed to get through the tough times.
Before jumping into the prayer for a stressed friend, we’ll also look at how to pray for someone who is stressed, a powerful prayer to relieve stress, a Bible verse to pray for a stressed friend, and Bible verses to deal with stress.
How to Pray for Someone Who Is Stressed?
Here are three simple tips to keep in mind when praying for someone who is stressed. Praying with confidence, mentioning their names, and claiming scripture promises.
Pray With Confidence
Firstly, you should be confident when you make your request known to the Lord. Being confident means you’ll not be timid as you approach the Lord but that you’ll pray believing that the Lord is more than able to grant your prayer request.
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16 NIV)
Mention Their Name
Don’t be afraid to call the names of those who you are praying for. Prayer requests should be specific, and this includes mentioning what you are praying for in great detail and also the names of those you are praying for. Instead of saying, “Lord, take away stress from my dear friend,” you could say, “Lord, take away stress from Andrene.”
Claim Scripture Promises
Both the Old Testament and the New Testament are filled with promises that may be used to pray about the experiences we face in life. When praying for someone who is stressed, it’s important to claim Bible promises that give hope and create a positive mindset.
It’s also great to mention Bible verses or stories that are specific or similar to what is causing stress or be a solution for it. Psalm twenty-three verse three is an excellent promise that speaks about restoring the mindset.
He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3 NIV)
As a matter of fact, the Shepherd Psalm isn’t just a well-known Bible passage; it is full of promises that may give hope in some of the most stressful experiences we face in life.

What is a Powerful Prayer to Relieve Stress?
The Bible has many powerful verses and prayers that may be used to relieve stress. Psalm 23 is one of those passages that you may pray, sing, recite, or meditate on in order to relieve stress and anxiety.
This powerful Bible passage helps us to focus on who we are in the Lord, the promises He has given us, and why we can depend on Him even in our most anxious, fearful, and stressful moments.
Psalm 23 is a Powerful Prayer to Relieve Stress
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23 NIV)
The first verse is a reminder that we should consider ourselves as sheep who lack nothing. Instead of worrying about the things that are causing stress, we can be hopeful, knowing that the Lord is our shepherd and He’ll provide all our needs.
The second verse draws attention to the fact that the Lord is our guide in life. It also points out that He’ll lead us into our moments of prosperity and places of provision and contentment.
Verse three of the shepherd’s Psalm speaks about renewal and restoration. It reassures that a mindset of doubt and stress can be transformed into a beautiful soul. The Lord redirects us from the worst places in our lives and leads us to paths of righteousness.
The fourth verse of the shepherd’s Psalm is a beautiful text to meditate on when experiencing the most stressful and fearful ordeals in life. There is no need to fear because our loving shepherd is right there with us even in our darkest moments.
The Lord is our provider, and He gives us until we have more than we need by allowing our cups to overflow.
The final verse of Psalm 23 is perfect for the stressful moments of life because it assures us that the mercy and goodness of the Lord will be ours to enjoy all the days of our life.

Philippians 4:6 is a beautiful Bible verse to reflect on as you pray for a stressed friend. This is because it reminds us not to be anxious or stressed but to take all our worries to the Lord.
This text may be used as a thought for affirmation that may be repeated in the morning. It may also be used as a quote on mugs, clothing, wall art, phone stickers, blankets, or a special place where it may be seen throughout the day.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6 NIV)

A Prayer for a Stressed Friend
God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Daniel,
Help your daughter to have a sound mind. Let this mind be in her, which was also in Christ Jesus. Take away the spirit of fear, doubt, and anxiety and replace it with your Spirit of love, power, and a sound mind. Remind her not to be anxious about anything but to take everything to You in prayer.
Remove the fruits of the flesh from her mind and her life and replace them with the fruit of the Spirit. May love, joy, peace, gentleness, meekness, faith, patience, goodness, and self-control be hers.
Remind her that your strength is made perfect in weakness. Remind her that your grace is sufficient for her. May she be comforted knowing that if she waits upon the Lord, her strengths will be renewed and she will be mounted up on eagle’s wings.
You have commanded her to be strong and courageous because you are with her and because you will uphold her with your righteous right hand.
Though a thousand shall fall at her side and ten thousand by her right hand, NOTHING shall harm her. She shall trample upon the lion and the cobra, and very soon she will see the day when ALL her enemies become her footstool.
Help her to claim Your promises, help her to trust in You wholeheartedly, and help her to return to You before it is eternally too late.
Bless her and her household. Bless her children that they may never be in want. Anoint her head with oil, and may her cup always overflow.
May she affirm her life with Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans that I have for you says the Lord. Plans of peace to give you hope and a future.
Cover your daughter with Your matchless love, may her mind be focused on You, and may she keep a level eye.
Hear this prayer, O Lord. Answer favorably, I plead in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Final Thought
I hope that this prayer for a stressed friend will help you and your friends to find hope in the tough moments in life.
