Have you ever been interrupted by silence? If you are a parent, you definitely understand what I’m talking about. You are doing chores, reading a book, or doing some other task and realize that there is utter silence. In moments like these, your instincts tell you that your child is probably up to something.
With that thought, you stop what you were doing to find out exactly what your child is up to. Well, we all know the list of possible things is an endless one depending on the day and the mood the child was in.
But have you ever stopped to think that God sometimes uses this same tactic on us? Think about it, most of the time He’s there in the background quietly working on something. While we go through our daily, weekly, or even monthly motions, our awesome God is orchestrating the most amazing plans for our lives.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 NIV)
In moments when God is quiet, He’s definitely up to something; there is no if or but about it. When we realize that a child is quiet and probably up to something, feelings of dread and fear sometimes overwhelm us. The beauty about God is that we need not dread or fear when He seems quiet. It’s not a sign of abandonment; rather, it means that He is up to something good and He’s working on things in His perfect timing.

Don’t fear the silence; instead, savor the thought that your loving God is up to something amazing.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Help me not to be frightened, anxious, or fearful in moments when I feel like You are silent. Remind me that You are working behind the scenes to fulfill the plans that You have for my life. Help me to find comfort in the promise of Isaiah 41:10 as I look to You for strength as You uphold and guide me through the challenging seasons of my life. Thank You for always being with me. Thank You for being the awesome God that you are. Amen.
