Today’s chapter: Psalm 61

Today’s verse: Psalm 61:3

For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

Do you feel as though you are a city and your enemy is outside your walls plotting against you and doing everything to take you under siege?

The ‘enemy’ comes in many forms as he seeks to ambush, destroy, and consume your life. Your finances, employment status, family members, hobbies, or even a dog or a tree belonging to your neighbor may be used as implements by the enemy to launch an attack on you.

Saul’s irrational hatred was used as an implement to attack David. David was not only anointed to be king, but was also a root from the tree which would bear the Messiah. In using Saul to attack David the enemy was strategically attempting to ambuh every member of the human family and their access to the Redeemer.

David endured and ultimately survived multiple attacks from Saul because he fortified himself with a fortress.

For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. (Psalm 61:3)

The assaults you are facing now are not only intended to hurt you presently but are strategically targeted to destroy your future.

The financial challenges you are experiencing, the constant drama between you and other family members, the inability to change your employment status for the better, that annoying dog next door and all the other challenges that seem to mount an assault on you are the enemy’s implementations.

For now, they may make life miserably unbearable, but ultimately they may destroy your prospects of spending eternity with your Redeemer.

Take a lesson from the life of David, make God your shelter and your strong tower. Even though the enemy may try to take you under siege, have the assurance that you will be thoroughly sheltered and highly protected.

Daily make God your shelter and strong tower and fortify yourself from the attacks of the enemy.
