Today’s chapter: Psalm 11
Today’s verse Psalm 11:1
In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
The thought of a bird flying to the mountains paints a picture of freedom, tranquility and safety. The mountain represents the natural habitat of a bird.
The mountain provides trees with many branches for a bird to: perch, make a nest or simply do what it was created to. That is, to chirp, make music that just exalts the beauty of nature and reflect the awesomeness of the creator.
Being able to fly to where ever, when ever it pleases, looking for what it plans to eat and then enjoying every bite must be a truly rewarding feeling.
Eating “farm fresh” produce free from preservatives and colouring and enjoying tasty delights on its own schedule is what freedom is all about.
God is your mountain. When you flee to Him you can trust that all your needs will be provided.
Like the bird eating freshly from nature you can be assured that you will be fed physically and spiritually by God.
Think about the variety of fruits and vegetables you have at your disposal. Reflect on the inspiration that you may get from feasting on His Words. Certainly, you have to testify like David, “o taste and see that the Lord is good“.
To you God is like the trees in the mountain that provide a home for the bird and a space for it to happily chirp.
Make God your mountain-home. You may lay on His shoulder the way you would on a sofa or a bed. You may speak to Him the way you would speak to your spouse or your child.
The next time you want to get to a place of tranquility. Flee like a bird to the mountains.
Go to God, enjoy His provision and company.
