Hello empowered godly wives!
Today I will share a powerful baptism prayer for a family member. As empowered godly women, it’s important for us to pray for our loved ones earnestly and constantly. It’s especially important for us to pray for those who need to give their lives to the Lord and make the decision to be baptized.
Baptism is an important decision, and sometimes it’s a tough choice to make. Our family members have their personal struggles that at times prevent them from giving their lives to Jesus. This is why we have to pray for them. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is powerful as it is working.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16 NIV)
How to Pray for a Family Member to Get Baptized?
When praying for a family member to get baptized, be specific, pray frequently and fervently, and use a prayer journal.
Be Specific When Praying
When praying for a family member who you want to get baptized, it’s important to mention them by name. Being specific when praying is very important. This means you will mention the name of the person as well as any challenges that she (or he) is having that are preventing baptism. In faith, place the person and all his or her concerns before the Lord.
Pray Fervently and Frequently
The word of God says we should ask, seek, and knock. This means we should not be shy to ask the Lord more than once for the same thing. Daniel prayed three times a day even while there was a law against praying. There is nothing wrong if you earnestly pray three times a day for a family member who you would wish to get baptized.
Pray Aloud or Use a Prayer Journal
When praying for a family member to get baptized, you may write your prayer or you may say it aloud. The great thing about using a prayer journal to write your prayer is that you can keep track of when you prayed and also make a note when the prayer has been answered.
Pray Silently
The option is also there to pray silently. This is a war room strategy that prevents the enemy from keeping track of your prayers while you secretly make your requests known unto the Lord.
Prayer for Baptism
You may say this prayer for your mom, sister, cousin, aunt, niece, or any other family member who you want to get baptized. Though the prayer is written for a female, you may adjust it and pray for your husband or any other male family member or friend.
A Prayer for My Family Member to Be Baptized
Heavenly Father,
I place Shan in your hands. I ask that You will anoint her from the crown of her head to the soles of her feet. I know You love her more than anything because You sent your only son to die so that she may have eternal life.
Lord, may she not take the sacrifice of Christ for granted. May she wholeheartedly accept Him as her personal Savior from sin and choose to commit her entire life to Him.
Father in heaven, I know that sometimes it’s hard to make the decision to follow You wholeheartedly. I know that sometimes our friends and family members are convicted, but they delay when it comes to making a step for You.
While on earth, Jesus said that we have to take up our cross and follow Him. Give Shan the desire, follow-through, and strength to take up her cross and follow You. I pray that instead of following the example of the rich young ruler who turned his back on You, she will declare, “Yes, Lord, yes! To your will and to your way.”
Help her not to worry about the weight of the cross that she’ll have to carry. Remind her that “you give strength to the weary” and that your “strength is made perfect in weakness.” As she opens her mind and soul to the Holy Spirit to make the life-changing decision to follow you, remind her that your yoke is light and your burden is easy.
She may be worried that she’ll have to fix many things and fix herself before saying yes to recommitting her life to You and Your service. Remind her that she should not let anything in this world separate her from the love of Christ. May nothing delay or separate her from You.
I pray that she’ll not focus on the months and years that she missed with You. I pray that she’ll not worry about what others may say or think about her decision to get baptized. Lord, transform her by the renewing of her mind and give her the courage to come boldly before your throne of grace.
There is no doubt that she believes in You. Your word says that “whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.” Allow her to take that all-important step to be baptized and be saved in your kingdom before it is too late. I await the day when she will step into the watery grave of baptism and begin to walk in the newness of life.
Lord, I pray that you will demolish any principality, power, or spiritual wickedness that is now preventing her from giving her life to You. I claim spiritual freedom, rebirth, newness of life, and transformation over her at this very moment. The gates of hell shall not prevail over her life. Reclaim her, mighty God, as your daughter. Reinstate her immediately as a citizen of your kingdom and place her firmly under the banner of Prince Emanuel. Amen.
Final Thought
It’s my desire that as you say this powwrful prayer for a family member to be baptized, the Holy Spirit will transform the mind of the person you are praying for. I pray that she (or he) will submit to the nudgings of the Holy Spirit and that they’ll make the decision to be baptized.
