Will You Return to the Household of Faith?

Empowering Godly Wives Will You Return To The Household of Faith

The parable of the prodigal son is a beautiful story about returning to the household of faith. The son took his inheritance, left his father’s household, and went out on his own. After a while he realized that something was terribly wrong with his life.

“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! ¹⁸ I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. (Luke 15:17-18 NIV)

The prodigal son realized his error when he lost all he had. His inheritance was gone along with the lavish life he once enjoyed. The King James Version states that ‘he came to himself,’ felt remorse, and made the tough decision to return home. He threw away pride and embraced humility. He was willing to give up his position as a son and become a servant in his father’s household. The most important thing was his willingness to return to his father.

Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that we don’t want to be in. We have the choice to stay in the situation, or we can put pride aside, humble ourselves, and return to our heavenly Father. Sadly, some of us have left the household of faith to chase after personal pleasures and material things. Will you let pride keep you away from the household of faith?

Return before it’s too late!

Prayer About Returning to the Household of Faith

Father,

I confess that I have made poor choices and decisions that changed the trajectory of my life. I admit that where I am today is my fault. Heavenly Father, help me to get off this crooked path and lead me back to the household of faith.

Forgive me for the moments I behaved selfishly. Forgive me for the moments when I chose personal pleasures and material things over your will. I want to make things right, and I want to get back on track. Take me off the broad road of destruction and lead me into your paths of righteousness. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
