Today’s chapter: Psalm 25

Today’s verse: Psalm 25:21

Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

Some plants yield fruits seasonally. This means for a short period of time there is a vast supply. When the season is up you have to wait until the next season to enjoy another fresh batch.

Thanks to food preservation you don’t have to wait until next season to enjoy your favourite treats.

Food preservation has provided people with the ability to enjoy seasonal fruits and foods all year long. It prevents spoilage thus extending the shelf life of a product.

Drying, canning, freezing, fermenting and using salt and sugar are a few methods used to preserve food. Thanks to these methods treats like: jams, jellies, juices, pickles and pies may be enjoyed whether or not a certain food is in season.

A marriage or any other relationship has its seasons. There are periods with vast abundance then there are other times when things are not so great.

Love, happiness, success and prosperity in your marriage may feel as though they are out of season. In times like these while you wait for the next season to appear you have to “let integrity and uprightness preserve [you]” Psalms 25:21.

Integrity and uprightness prevents “spoilage” and lengthen the “shelf life” of your relationship. Integrity and uprightness will be the sugar or salt that you use to keep the love in season all year long. Salt adds flavour and sugar adds sweetness.

Take God as the salt in your marriage. In food preservation salt inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria, adds flavour and prevent spoilage. Ensuring God is a constant in your marriage will sheild you from harmful experiences and challenges.

Yes, financial difficulties, illness, difference of opinion and waning affection may show up but with God you are able to endure without loosing the flavour in your marriage or having to go separate ways.

Using kind gestures as the sugar in your marriage will ensure that love remains as sweet as a well ripened freshly picked otaheite apple.

A call or text message during the day, running a special bath, an occasional picknick or candle light dinner or even a massage are some kind gestures to keep things sweet in season and out of season.

Borrow simple techniques from food preservation to maintain your marriage. Apply the salt (God) and the sugar (kind gestures) and integrity and uprightness will certainly preserve you.
