Today’s chapter: Psalms 21
Today’s verse: Psalms 21:5
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
Many persons know Marcus M. Garvey as the first named national hero for Jamaica. Throughout his life he was a whole-hearted servant who worked hard to accomplish what he believed in and what he hoped to achieve.
Garvey was a black nationalist, leader, Pan-Africanist, civil right activist, philosopher and business man. In a time when people of colour were treated unequally he was a source of hope and inspiration. Due to his commitment, accomplishments and dedication to people of colour he was honoured as a national hero.
Others are inspired, find hope and are blessed by you because you are a lot of things to a lot of people. The title of national hero may not have been conferred upon you but you are honoured because of the simple things you do for others.
Continue to be a whole-hearted servant in all that you do. You may not get a thank you. Your efforts may not be acknowledge. You may become unpopular or be alienated but do it nonetheless.
The efforts of Marcus M. Garvey were not acknowledge until after his passing. It took decades after his death for: his remains to be placed under his monument at the national hero’s park and for him to be officially named in 1969 as a national hero.
You may not received your honor and majesty in this life but you will be rewarded. Remember Matthew 5:12, “great is your reward in heaven”.
Where ever you are or whatever role you may be fulfilling be a whole-hearted servant. Serve your: children, spouse, employer, congregation, ministry even your country whole-heartedly.
In being a whole-hearted servant you will bring honour to those you serve, to yourself and to God.
