Today’s chapter: Psalm 15
Today’s verse: Psalms 15:2
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
Have you ever tried on the perfect shoe to complete an outfit only to find out it is too tight?
In most cases, you could ask for a wider or larger pair but sometimes you have to deal with the harsh reality that your size is not available for that particular pair of shoes.
Some persons will take a risk, and for the sake of fashion and perfecting a “look” endure the pain of wearing a pair of tight shoes.
Wearing tight shoes is easier said than done. Your toes will ache and the sides, back and bottom of your feet will burn like fire. You may even earn “corn-toes” thanks to your indiscretion.
Walking will be a burdensome task and you will take every opportunity you get to sit somewhere while you free your feet from a world of hurt.
The life of faith is a journey that involves a lot of walking. Wearing just any pair of shoes is not enough. Tight achy shoes will not suffice. Bare feet will not do either.
Only comfortable shoes are acceptable as you will need to walk uprightly. But why do you need to walk uprightly?
Psalm 15:2 is a response to two very important questions (LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?) asked in Psalm 15:1.
The first prerequisite stated in Psalm 15:2 is to walk uprightly. Certainly, shoes that are too tight and cause your feet to be in constant pain will prevent you from walking comfortably and uprightly.
Bad habits, things that will distract you from you journey of faith, bad company and a list of other things mentioned in Psalm 15 are all examples of tight shoes.
These are the things that will bring a rift between you and your Saviour. Throw all tight shoes out of your closet and replace them with “the preparation of the gospel of peace” (Ephesians 6:15) as your only type of footwear.
Bad habits, distractions and bad company are tight shoes that will cause your ‘soul to burn’ in fire.
If you plan to abide in His tabernacle or dwell in His holy hills you have to get rid of bad habits, distractions and bad company.
Say no to tight shoes, walk uprightly and secure your space in His holy hill.
